Softball Preview: Franklin Admirals vs. Lawson Lightning
The Franklin Admirals will venture away from home to square off against the Lawson Lightning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 6th.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Franklin's offense. They lost 12-0 to Nolensville on Thursday.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lawson). They put the hurt on Glencliff with a sharp 26-3 win on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lightning with their most commanding win of the season.
Joi Stewart was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Kaniyah Smith, who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Lawson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .939. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Lawson's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
