Baseball Recap: Tracy Drops Season-High Score on West

Tracy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played West, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's contest. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Wolfpack on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Tracy got a great performance from Jace Johnson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Johnson also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Bulldogs are 6-3 when he allows at most two walks, but 6-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Elijah Gutierrez was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Tracy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 10-13 when he doesn't). Ryan Torres was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Tracy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.

Tracy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-14. As for West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 16 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-19-1 record this season.
