Football Recap: Colusa RedHawks vs. Gridley Bulldogs
After flying high against Williams last Friday, Colusa came back down to earth. The RedHawks came up short against the Gridley Bulldogs on Friday, falling 27-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the RedHawks of the 27-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.
David Belmontes threw for 44 yards on five of 12 attempts. Mason Jennings was his top target, picking up 28 receiving yards. On the ground, Eric Gonzales rushed for 39 yards.
Eli Punzo went supernova For Gridley., rushing for 211 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. They also got a significant boost from Isaac Punzo, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 94 yards.
Colusa's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Gridley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
