Basketball Recap: Pine View Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Pine View extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping them up to 12-4. They came out on top against the Rancho Rams by a score of 76-63. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pine View's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caleb Schmitt led the charge by going 7-for-14 en route to 21 points and six boards. That's the most points Schmitt has posted since back in November of 2024. Ethan Ott was another key player, shooting 75% from the field to rack up 18 points.

Pine View was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

As for Rancho, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (55), they still had to take the loss.

Rancho's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zehlik Wyatt-Gowans, who went 9-for-21 on his way to 20 points. Wyatt-Gowans is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 19 or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Navarius Page, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Coming up, Pine View will square off against Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rancho, they will take on Chaparral at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams will be up against the Cowboys' rather soft defense (which has allowed 63.94 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
