Softball Recap: Reading Wins Going Away Against Madeira

Reading won the last time they faced Madeira and things went their way on Thursday too. The Blue Devils blew past the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS 8-2. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Hailey Mowell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Madison Berry, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Reading and bumps their season record up to 8-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-3 Madeira and 2-3 Deer Park. As for Madeira, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Reading will challenge Deer Park at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.4 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Madeira, they will face off against Lockland at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The MUSTANGS/AMAZONS' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
