Basketball Game Preview: Serra Cavaliers vs. St. Anthony Saints

The Serra Cavaliers will venture away from home to square off against the St. Anthony Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Wednesday, Serra came up short against St. Paul and fell 55-48. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 584th, while the Swordsmen are ranked 129th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Khary Wilder, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chinemerem Anyikwa, who posted 16 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, St. Anthony also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to St. Bernard by a score of 67-59.

St. Anthony's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Serra, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season.

Serra lost to St. Anthony on the road by a decisive 70-55 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Serra avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
