It was a good run, but Serena unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Friday. They fell 2-0 to the Newark Norsemen. If the Huskers were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Norsemen when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The final score came out to 25-20, 25-16.

Newark can attribute much of their success to Morgan Hergenhahn, who had nine digs and three aces. That's the most aces Hergenhahn has posted since back in September.

Serena's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-6-1. As for Newark, their win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-3.

Serena and Newark will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Huskers see the court they'll take on Indian Creek at 6:30 p.m. on the 16th. As for Newark, their break will end when they face Hinckley-Big Rock at 6:30 p.m. on the 16th.
