It was a good run, but Serena unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Friday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newark Norsemen. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Huskers of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-20, 25-16.

Serena's offense was headlined by Anna Hjerpe and Alexa McNally, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Rebekah Shugrue and her 11 assists.

Among those leading the charge was Morgan Hergenhahn, who had nine digs and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September.

Serena's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-6-1. As for Newark, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

Serena wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Earlville on the 8th. As for Newark, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Indian Creek on the 8th.
