Softball Recap: Trona Wins Going Away Against Lee Vining

Trona had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Lee Vining on Friday. The Tornadoes blew past the Tigers 13-2. Considering the Tornadoes have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lily Mehan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Chloe Corrion was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Jade Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Trona was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Trona is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Lee Vining, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
