Preview: Oak Harbor vs. Shorecrest
If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Oak Harbor. They will square off against Shorecrest at 7:00 PM on Friday. Oak Harbor know how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Shorecrest like a good challenge.
Oak Harbor entered their game against Squalicum last Friday without any home losses -- but there's a first time for everything. It was close but no cigar for Oak Harbor as they fell 40-43 to Squalicum. Oak Harbor got a solid performance out of senior Dorian Hardin, who picked up 87 yards on the ground and caught passes for 129 yards; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the victory.
Meanwhile, Shorecrest put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season. They took their matchup against Lynnwood by a conclusive 48-15 score. That looming 33-point mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Shorecrest yet.
Shorecrest's win lifted them to 5-3 while Oak Harbor's loss dropped them down to 6-2. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, it will be interesting to see how far up these teams can run up the score.
