Baseball Recap: Male Comes Up Short

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Male's offense. They came up short against the Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers on Wednesday, falling 23-0. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Male got a good showing from Miles Flack, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Flack is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 6-2 (and 6-13 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Cole Woodward was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Male has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season. As for Pleasure Ridge Park, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 29-2.

Male didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-3 win against Oldham County on the 8th. As for Pleasure Ridge Park, they will square off against McCracken County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Panthers have won 39 straight at home dating back to last season, while the Mustangs won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
