Basketball Game Preview: Central Valley Cougars vs. Riverside Chargers

The Central Valley Cougars will challenge the Riverside Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Central Valley sitting on three straight wins and Riverside on six.

Last Friday, Central Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Twin Loup, but they still walked away with a 52-48 victory.

Central Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zevan Wolf led the charge by putting up ten points and seven boards. Cordel Wagner was another key player, earning six points.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Riverside over Nebraska Lutheran in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Riverside blew Nebraska Lutheran out of the water with an 80-42 final score. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Central Valley pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points over those games. As for Riverside, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

Central Valley came up short against Riverside when the teams last played back in January, falling 62-50. Can Central Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
