Basketball Recap: Aidan Munchel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cambridge City Lincoln over Union County

If Cambridge City Lincoln was feeling good fresh off their 85-50 takedown of MTI School of Knowledge last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union County Patriots. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Eagles of the 57-52 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Cambridge City Lincoln lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aidan Munchel, who went 6 of 15 to rack up 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Patterson, who posted eight points.

Union County found their leader in sophomore Grady Coyle, who went 11 for 15 en route to 23 points and eight boards. What's more, Coyle also posted a 73% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in February of 2024. Fenton Coyle was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 10-5. As for Union County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Cambridge City Lincoln didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 90-50 win against Muncie Burris on the 8th. As for Union County, they will welcome Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Northeastern's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
