Volleyball Game Preview: Poly Bears vs. Rancho Verde Mustangs

Poly hasn't had much luck against Rancho Verde recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bears are taking a road trip to face off against the Mustangs at 5:15 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Poly took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Vista del Lago with a sharp 3-0 win.

Poly never let Vista del Lago on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-15, 27-25.

Meanwhile, Rancho Verde posted their closest victory since March 1st on Tuesday. They skirted past Arlington 3-2. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Rancho Verde took Arlington into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 28-12, 22-25, 21-25, 15-9.

Rancho Verde's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11. As for Poly, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Poly took their win against Rancho Verde when the teams last played on April 1st by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
