Basketball Recap: Aaron Leos' Big Game Can't Quite Lead IDEA Weslaco Pike over IDEA Sports Park

IDEA Weslaco Pike was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-47 heartbreaker at the hands of the IDEA Sports Park Stingrays. The Mavericks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Stingrays earlier this season, when they won 51-41.

IDEA Weslaco Pike lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aaron Leos, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Leos a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Vasquez, who posted nine points.

IDEA Weslaco Pike's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for IDEA Sports Park, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-6.

IDEA Weslaco Pike wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-36 victory against IDEA Robindale on the 21st. As for IDEA Sports Park, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 80-29 win against IDEA Frontier College Prep on the 20th.
