Basketball Recap: Tobi Bamidele's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Magnolia Science Academy over Santa Ana

If Magnolia Science Academy was feeling good fresh off their 63-36 takedown of Magnolia Science Academy 5 back in October, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates received a blow on Monday as they fell 68-53 to the Santa Ana Saints.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tobi Bamidele, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Bamidele has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Devin Gonzales was another key player, putting up 19 points and five boards.

Santa Ana's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Rivera led the charge by scoring 20 points. Those 20 points gave Rivera a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Chavez, who posted 14 points.

Magnolia Science Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Magnolia Science Academy is taking a road trip to face off against Vista Meridian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Santa Ana, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against California Academy of Math & Science at 7:25 p.m. on Tuesday.
