Softball Recap: Browne Bruins vs. Cesar Chavez Champions
Browne had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 4-11 to make it four. They lost 20-5 to the Cesar Chavez Champions. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Champions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Browne saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tunisia Rios, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Another was Lorelie Celest Tavizon, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
As for Cesar Chavez, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The result was nothing new for Cesar Chavez, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Cesar Chavez's side, Adrienne Morales made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Morales has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Saree Ochoa was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Jayelynne Garcia also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Browne didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 21-2 loss against West Point on the 14th. Hopefully Cesar Chavez paid attention to the Bruins' contest: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Bruins at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
