Softball Recap: Maple Grove Crimson vs. Mankato East Cougars        
        
		
            
 Maple Grove was the  2-0 winner over Mankato East when they last played one another  back in May of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Maple Grove Crimson lost  13-4 to the Mankato East Cougars on Wednesday. Maple Grove has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 For Mankato East's part,  Kylinn Stangl was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run over seven innings pitched. Stangl has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings every time she's  pitched this season. Stangl was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in three of her five plate appearances with two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Maddeline Beaty and  Kenley Staunton did most of the damage at the plate:  Beaty  scored three  runs and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in all five of her plate appearances, while  Staunton  scored three  runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Harper Stangl, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
 Maple Grove's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Mankato East, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record  this season.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maple Grove will take on Blaine at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Blaine is coming into the  game with five straight  wins on the road,  so Maple Grove will have to stop a  team with plenty of momentum. As for Mankato East, they will be playing in front of their home fans against John Marshall at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Mankato East is facing John Marshall at the right time seeing as John Marshall is stuck on  a  ten-game losing streak.
