Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Connersville's 15th in Last 17 Outings

Connersville won the last time they faced Cambridge City Lincoln and things went their way on Thursday too. The Spartans put the hurt on the Golden Eagles with a sharp 14-1 victory. Considering the Spartans have won nine matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jade Green made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Connersville let Bre Brock and Carmen Ruble run wild. Brock went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Ruble went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Ruble is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addie Phillips, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Connersville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are 13-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Connersville is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
