Basketball Game Preview: Walsh Eagles vs. Granada Bobcats

The Walsh Eagles will take on the Granada Bobcats in a tournament on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Walsh took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Monday. They strolled past Yarbrough with points to spare, taking the game 51-33.

Kayla Penick was a one-woman wrecking crew for Walsh as she went 13 of 22 en route to 28 points. What's more, Penick also racked up four rebounds, the most she's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Ava Alley, who posted ten points in addition to seven assists and six boards.

Meanwhile, Granada put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 67-9 win over Manzanola. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-2.

Walsh better focus on containing Dayzriana Quintana and Emersen Hernandez as the pair were huge in Granada's win. Quintana dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten boards, while Hernandez went 5 of 8 on her way to 13 points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Williams, who put up seven points and nine rebounds.

Granada's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Walsh, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Walsh took a serious blow against Granada in their previous meeting back in February, falling 53-17. Thankfully for Walsh, Marissa Valenzuela (who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
