Basketball Recap: Sequoyah Takes a Loss

Sequoyah suffered their closest loss since February 9, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of the Polk County Wildcats by a score of 56-54. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Polk County found their leader in sophomore Zanten Branham, who went 12 for 23 en route to 31 points and seven boards. The contest was Branham's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Behr Burrows was another key player, putting up seven points.

Sequoyah's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Polk County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Sequoyah has already played their next game (against Soddy Daisy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Polk County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-60 loss against Tellico Plains on the 28th.
