Baseball Game Preview: Ooltewah Owls vs. Bradley Central Bears

Ooltewah hasn't had much luck against Bradley Central recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Owls will look to defend their home field against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. Ooltewah will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Ooltewah's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over Howard Tech. Considering the Owls have won 15 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Bradley Central and East Hamilton meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Bears sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Hurricanes.

Tyler Cook spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bradley Central's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carson Stott, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Ooltewah has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Bradley Central, their win bumped their record up to 17-14-1.
