Basketball Recap: Spring Valley Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

On Saturday, Spring Valley faced Huntington in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Spring Valley Timberwolves took a 68-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huntington Highlanders. That makes it the first time this season the Timberwolves have let down their home crowd.

Spring Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Keyan Grayson, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Grayson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Harrison Riggs, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Spring Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive matches.

Spring Valley's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-1. As for Huntington, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-7.
