Recap: Waskom Wildcats vs. Elysian Fields Yellowjackets
The Waskom Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 58-49 to Elysian Fields. Waskom was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Elysian Fields apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Elysian Fields was led to victory by Brody Parker and Nunu Kennedy. Parker scored ten points along with four steals, while Kennedy scored 20 points along with eight steals and six assists. Kennedy is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Dravian Rather was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Waskom has been struggling recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Elysian Fields, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing West Rusk the next time they take the court. Elysian Fields will head out to face West Rusk at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Waskom will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
