Preview: Warrior Run Defenders vs. Mifflinburg Wildcats

The Warrior Run Defenders have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Mifflinburg Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. One thing working in Warrior Run's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four contests.

Last Friday, Warrior Run was fully in charge, breezing past Montgomery 49-6 at home. The result was nothing new for Warrior Run, who have now won four matches by 35 points or more so far this season.

Ryan Newton and Samuel Hall were among the main playmakers for Warrior Run as the former threw for 166 yards and four touchdowns and the latter picked up 122 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Newton is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Stone Allison was another key contributor, rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Mifflinburg was the victim of a tough 48-28 defeat at the hands of Milton on Friday. Mifflinburg was down 35-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite their loss, Mifflinburg saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kyler Troup, who picked up 160 receiving yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Chad Martin, who rushed for 17 yards and a touchdown.

Warrior Run's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Montgomery, Midd-West, and Hughesville. Mifflinburg has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Warrior Run was taken down by Mifflinburg 49-13 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Warrior Run, Andrew Diehl (who rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
