Basketball Recap: Ava Gaines Key Part of Team Effort in Little Giants Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Washington, Canton was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Limestone Rockets by a score of 56-49. The Little Giants haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Canton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Gaines led the charge by going 9-for-16 en route to 23 points. Those 23 points gave Gaines a new career-high. Allison Wheeler was another key player, putting up 12 points and five rebounds.

Canton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-14. As for Limestone, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-16.

Coming up, Canton will square off against Farmington at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Limestone does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
