Football Recap: Central Comes Up Short

After flying high against Miami Springs last Wednesday, Central came back down to earth. The Central Rockets lost 26-0 to the Varela Vipers on Tuesday.

Varela found their leader in freshman Angelyn Molina, who threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 passes. Molina's passing game has become a key predictor of Varela's success: the team is undefeated when her passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Varela, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will challenge Jackson at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central is facing Jackson at the right time seeing as Jackson is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Varela, they will take on Archbishop Carroll at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
