Baseball Recap: Salem Hills Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Salem Hills can now relate to. They came up short against the Orem Tigers on Wednesday, falling 14-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Skyhawks have suffered since March 23, 2024.

Mason Ward made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Salem Hills is 4-1 when Ward posts two or more runs, but 11-16 otherwise. Talon Cloward was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Salem Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 15-17. As for Orem, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season.

Salem Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Orem, they will square off against Brighton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bengals will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
