Softball Game Preview: Chesapeake Panthers vs. Fairland Dragons

Chesapeake hasn't had much luck against Fairland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will take on the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. Chesapeake has given up an average of 14 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Chesapeake is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Thursday. They lost 24-4 to Huntington.

Meanwhile, Fairland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Wayne, falling 14-7.

Ally Shepherd was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That home run was her first of the season. Katie Dehart was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

Fairland's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Chesapeake, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Chesapeake skirted past Fairland 9-8 in their previous matchup on April 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
