Basketball Recap: Koehn Turner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Robertsdale over UMS-Wright Prep

Robertsdale lost against UMS-Wright Prep back in November of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Robertsdale Golden Bears took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Golden Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 137th).

Robertsdale lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Koehn Turner, who posted eight points. The dominant performance gave Turner a new career-high in points. Skyler Washington was another key player, putting up 12 points.

UMS-Wright Prep found their leader in sophomore Jake Pilger, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 18 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeff Holston, who put up six points.

Robertsdale has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for UMS-Wright Prep, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Robertsdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-46 loss against Fairview on the 20th. As for UMS-Wright Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-52 defeat against Mobile Christian on the 20th.
