Basketball Recap: Bayshore Sets Scoring Season-High Against Desoto County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bayshore). They came out on top against the DeSoto County Bulldogs by a score of 74-62 on Friday. The Bruins pushed the score to 59-38 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

Bayshore was led to victory by Enrique Viera and Imari Thomas. Viera almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds, while Thomas went 7 for 13 en route to 17 points along with seven assists and six boards. Kaiden Friedman also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Bayshore was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, DeSoto County still got an impressive performance from Rylan Unruh, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Unruh is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eduardo Vasconcelas, who posted eight points and five steals.

Bayshore's win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-17. As for DeSoto County, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13.

Bayshore didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-63 loss against North Port on the 27th. DeSoto County has also already played their next match, a 67-49 defeat against Imagine School at North Port on the 27th.
