Softball Recap: Sutherlin Bulldogs vs. Rogue River Chieftains
Sutherlin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 19-12 to the Rogue River Chieftains. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Sutherlin of the 12-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.
Josie Vermillion was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Kellsie Engelstad was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Sutherlin's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Rogue River, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-7.
Sutherlin will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakeview at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Rogue River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
