League recap: Noxubee County tops Shannon to extend winning streak

Noxubee County extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 4 this week by beating Shannon, 42-6. The win marks 12th in a row for the the Tigers.

Houston and Amory played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Houston eventually emerging with a 26-24 victory. Sharone Wright threw for 108 yards and ran for 44 yards in the win.

Louisville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Wyatt Roberts threw for 305 and two touchdowns and Desmond Goss had 127 yards receiving. On the ground Cass Love chipped in 138 yards. Travian Hudson helped Louisville's passing attack out by catching three balls for 76 yards.

The Wildcats' Roberts and Goss have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Roberts has thrown for 2634 yards this season, while Goss, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 60 catches for 1006 yards. Noxubee County's Darrell Robinson leads the league in rushing yards with 1408.

Jamari Green has rushed for 918 yards on 173 carries so far this year.

Leake Central made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,876 from 7,443.
