Softball Recap: Bucktail Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Bucktail had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Sugar Valley Rural Phoenix. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 last Monday.

The team relied heavily on Eva Sockman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and three doubles. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. Lola English was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.

Bucktail was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .500 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Bucktail's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Sugar Valley Rural, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Bucktail will face off against rival Montgomery at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bucks 3.1, the Red Raiders 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Sugar Valley Rural is set to square off against their familiar foe Muncy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
