Basketball Recap: Lincoln Southeast Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Lincoln Southeast extended their road winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Mike Ngoyi. The Lincoln Southeast Knights came out on top against the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks by a score of 58-51 on Friday thanks in part to Ngoyi, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Lincoln Southwest lost, don't look at Uzziah Sanders. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 11 on his way to 16 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Sanders is becoming a predictor of Lincoln Southwest's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Makkiah Sanders, who went 7 of 15 en route to 15 points and five rebounds.

Lincoln Southeast's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Lincoln Southwest, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3.

Lincoln Southeast and Lincoln Southwest could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. Lincoln Southeast (ranked 40th) will meet Westview (ranked tenth) at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Lincoln Southwest (ranked 41st) will meet Omaha Westside (ranked fifth) at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.
