Baseball Game Preview: Bangor Slaters vs. Jim Thorpe Olympians

The Bangor Slaters will head out to face off against the Jim Thorpe Olympians at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bangor will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Things were looking good for Bangor after they put the first runs on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Salisbury Township.

Nolan Koza was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. That run marked the first that he scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Farensbach, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Jim Thorpe had taken Northern Lehigh down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Olympians fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Olympians have suffered since May 4, 2024.

Jim Thorpe saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Lazorick, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another was Zack Murphy, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Bangor's record is now 1-6-1. As for Jim Thorpe, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
