Volleyball Game Preview: Kuemper Knights vs. Lewis Central Titans

The Kuemper Knights will face off against the Lewis Central Titans at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Kuemper will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Kuemper got the win against Glenwood by a conclusive 3-0.

Meanwhile, Lewis Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-match winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to Red Oak.

Lewis Central was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-22, 25-20.

Kuemper will have to keep a close watch on Jacey Young and Braylyn Coats, a pair of players who had a big impact on Lewis Central's prior game. Young had 11 digs and three aces, while Coats had five digs and two aces. Coats has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Lewis Central's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 18-8. As for Kuemper, their win bumped their record up to 17-1.

Kuemper was able to grind out a solid victory over Lewis Central when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
