Baseball Recap: Wayne County Takes a Loss

Wayne County extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 8-13. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Central Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-3 defeat on Friday.

Wayne County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jon Michael Pitts, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for East Central, the victory got them back to even at 11-11. The win was familiar territory for they, who have now won three contests in a row.

On East Central's side, Christian McFaul spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. McFaul has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gage Damazio was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Wayne County has already played their next game, an 11-4 loss against Purvis on the 7th. As for East Central, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Vancleave on the 7th.
