Basketball Recap: Homer Takes a Loss

If Homer was feeling good fresh off their 76-26 takedown of Pansophia Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Homer Trojans fell 64-51 to the Union City Chargers on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now lost three in a row.

Leading Union City to victory were Elijah Payne and Aidan Decker. Payne went 8-for-14 en route to 23 points and five rebounds, while Decker almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. That's the most points Payne has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rick Austin, who had ten points.

Homer's defeat dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Union City, their win bumped their record up to 15-8.

Homer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Union City, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-49 loss against Centreville on the 26th.
