Basketball Game Preview: Catawba Ridge Copperheads vs. Lexington Wildcats

The Catawba Ridge Copperheads are taking a road trip to take on the Lexington Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Catawba Ridge will head into Friday's match on the come-up: they were handed a 25-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 32-30 win over Northwestern. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Copperheads have posted since December 3, 2024.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Lexington ultimately got the result they hoped for two weeks ago. They came out on top against Fort Mill by a score of 60-53.

Lexington's win came from a few key players Catawba Ridge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sydni Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. Anderson is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Saville, who posted 18 points and three steals.

Lexington was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Mill only posted 11 assists.

Lexington's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Catawba Ridge, their record now sits at 6-7.
