Recap: Manchester Red Hawks vs. Southington Blue Knights
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Manchester Red Hawks, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 47-20 defeat at the hands of the Blue Knights on Tuesday. Manchester has not had much luck with Southington recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Manchester had strong showings from Julian Henderson, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns, and Jayden Kennedy, who picked up 84 receiving yards.
Rashard Williams had an outrageously good game for Southington as he picked up 125 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Cj Dibenedetto, who threw for 233 yards and four touchdowns.
Southington's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Chris Totonis was especially locked on to Manchester's QB and sacked him twice.
Manchester's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Southington, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4.
Manchester does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Southington will square off against Staples at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Staples will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
