Football Recap: Cypress Centurions vs. La Mirada Matadores        
        
		
             Cypress  took care of business in their home opener  on Friday (and then some). They were the clear victor by  a  49-27 margin over the La Mirada Matadores. Given the Centurions' advantage  in MaxPreps' California football rankings  (they are ranked 162nd, while the Matadores are ranked 349th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cypress to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Matthew Baldonado, who rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 45 receiving yards and a touchdown.  Keiran Edmundson was another key signal caller, throwing for 254 yards and three touchdowns.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cypress was moving up and down the field and  finished the game with 461  total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Mirada only gained 337.
 When it comes to explaining why La Mirada lost, don't look at  Jordan Lauago. Despite the final result, he picked up 134 receiving yards, and also rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was  Madden Carino, who picked up 72 receiving yards and a touchdown.
 Cypress will host Corona del Mar  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for La Mirada, they will square off against Western at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
