Basketball Game Preview: Dover-Eyota Eagles vs. Lourdes Eagles

The Dover-Eyota Eagles will take on the Lourdes Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Thursday, Dover-Eyota blew past Cannon Falls, posting a 72-38 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Lourdes entered their tilt with Chatfield on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They managed a 69-65 win over the Gophers. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Gophers are ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lourdes' victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Dover-Eyota, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6.

Things could have been worse for Dover-Eyota, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-49 loss to Lourdes in their previous meeting back in February of 2024.
