Baseball Recap: Waverly Comes Up Short

Waverly was the 12-1 winner over Ralston when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Waverly fell just short of Ralston by a score of 8-7 on Saturday.

Waverly got a good showing from Owen Glassburner, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Trevor Roesler was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Hunter Thoms was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Waverly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ralston only posted a batting average of .217.

Waverly's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Ralston, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Waverly has already played their next contest (against Platteview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Ralston, they will square off against Beatrice at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
