Baseball Recap: La Serna Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

La Serna won the last time they faced Alhambra and things went their way on Saturday too. The Lancers came out on top against the Moors by a score of 5-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lancers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

La Serna got a great performance from Aidan Castro as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Castro has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isaac Lopez Del Haro, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

La Serna's win bumped their record up to 5-7-1. As for Alhambra, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Serna will challenge El Rancho at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dons' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Lancers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Alhambra, they will take on Warren at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Moors 1.8, the Bears 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
