Softball Recap: 24 Straight Home Victories for California

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but California ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the La Serna Lancers 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Condors have posted since May 11, 2024.

Alexis Salas looked comfortable as she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lauren Trivino was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

California pushed their record up to 18-9 with the victory, which was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for La Serna, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.

California and La Serna should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Condors will square off against Whittier at 3:15 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (85 vs. 676). Meanwhile, La Serna (ranked 134th) will meet Santa Fe (ranked 297th) at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
