Baseball Recap: South Harrison's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

South Harrison hadn't done well against Lincoln recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Hawks came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 1-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Not much got past Layton Wageman, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Lincoln off the board. Wageman also tossed no walks, which is notable because South Harrison is 9-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 9-11 otherwise.

With the victory, South Harrison broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 18-13. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 16-12.

Coming up, South Harrison will host Moorefield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Yellow Jackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.83 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lincoln, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 6-4 defeat against Fairmont Senior on the 9th.
