Recap: Mount Notre Dame vs. Fairfield Indians
Mount Notre Dame won the last time they faced the Fairfield Indians, and things went their way on Monday too. Mount Notre Dame enjoyed a cozy 60-46 victory over Fairfield. Given Mount Notre Dame's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Fairfield is ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mount Notre Dame was led to victory by Mia Veith and Kailee Bransford. Veith scored 14 points along with six rebounds, while Bransford scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Sarah Hofmann, who scored 11 points.
Despite the defeat, Fairfield had strong showings from Myka Richardson, who scored 13 points along with six assists, and Kayla McCoy, who scored 14 points. The game was Richardson's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimberlin Samples, who scored nine points.
The win makes it two in a row for Mount Notre Dame and bumps their season record up to 12-2. As for Fairfield, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Notre Dame will take on Seton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fairfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sycamore at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sycamore is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
