Softball Recap: Prairie Du Chien Finds Home Field Redemption Against Iowa-Grant

There's no place like home for Prairie du Chien, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past the Iowa-Grant Panthers 8-1 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Blackhawks, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Claire Kennedy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last eight matchups.

In other batting news, Lainey Mitchell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Abigail McCullick also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Prairie du Chien pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Iowa-Grant, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Coming up, Prairie du Chien will be playing in front of their home fans against Dodgeville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Iowa-Grant, they will host Hillsboro at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
