Basketball Recap: Austin Comes Up Short

Austin had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 6-14 to make it seven. They took a blow against the El Paso Tigers, falling 101-45. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 83-47 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

As for El Paso, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

El Paso got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Richard Arriaga out in front who shot 57% from the field en route to 21 points. Arriaga continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Khaleb Gomez, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 17 points.

Austin has already played their next matchup, a 65-60 loss against Clint on the 9th. As for El Paso, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-59 victory against Cathedral on the 9th.
